Prelim sketches/in prog pics!
What's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen? ... click this link to one of my Inspirations for the proj, a classic video of leaves' reaction to wind, artist Lee Bontecou and her portal-esque 2D/3D works, artist Rebecca Fox and her subtle uses of line weight in 3D form, and the fall season in Boonetown in general.
:::: As an aesthetic response to seeing how brilliantly the leaves and world around us changes in the high country in those few special weeks of fall, by using varying thicknesses of rod stock and intuitive free building I have attempted to capture the energy the wind and leaves have by 'drawing in the air' and creating what would usually be a 2D gestural sketch into a 3D gestural form. I hoped to create an orb of energy that reflects the energy and beauty I see in the swirling leaves and changing mountains around us.
